Visiting the Local History & Genealogy Collection

lhagc.jpgThe Local History & Genealogy collection is located inside Carnegie Library at 301 East Jackson Street. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is available to assist you with your historical and genealogical research Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am-6:00pm. We are closed Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are plenty of parking spaces next to our branch.  We charge 10 cents for photocopies from books and magazines, printouts from the computer and for copies from microfilm. We  keep a small amount of change and unfortunately, we cannot accept large bills for small fees.

We have a comprehensive collection of print, non print and electronic resources related to Muncie and Delaware County. We also have materials from other Indiana counties and surrounding states. Popular sources include newspapers, school yearbooks, vital record indexes, family files, court documents and the subscription database, AncestryLibrary.com. Our one of a kind obituary index is also very popular. The Digital Resource Library includes several online databases of Muncie/Delaware County documents important to local historians and genealogists.  If you have any questions,  please call us at 765-747-8208 or e-mail us at lhgresearch@munpl.org. We look forward to meeting you!
